Austin Brunson, MS

Professional Highlights
Austin received his Bachelor’s in Psychology from Brigham Young University in 2016. He then worked with Utah State University Extension Services, teaching research-based community education on healthy relationships (including dating, couples, and parenting relationships). From there, he attended Utah State University, where he obtained his Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2020 and has been working as a therapist ever since.
He has participated in more specialized training in the Gottman Method, various parenting approaches, neurodiverse populations, and therapist supervision.
Specialties
Overall, Austin is a generalist who enjoys the variety of working with clients from a broad range of demographics and concerns. He tends to do a lot of work with those experiencing distress around or within relationships (including family, parenting, couples, dating, loneliness, etc.) or with spiritual or existential concerns. Austin is a person who sees others as capable, wise, and admirable. He enjoys fostering an environment where the client remains the protagonist, and Austin fills in more of a trusted confidant role.
Much of his work revolves around strengthening individual agency and increasing the client’s ability to utilize emotions towards living more congruently with their core values. He tends to be a good fit for clients who are desperately wanting change in their lives, but feeling stuck in how to achieve it.
Personal Life
Outside of work, Austin likes to say he lives a pretty simple life. He has a broad range of interests and mostly enjoys doing things with people he cares about. He’s often engaged in something with his wife and kids, at a church function, trying to fix something he may or may not know how to fix, or trying to build or create something new.
