Carlee Dynes

Professional Highlights
Carlee is currently pursuing a PhD in Counseling Psychology at Brigham Young University. She is especially interested in caregiver mental health. During her master’s training, she studied couples during COVID-19 and is currently researching parents of autistic daughters for her doctoral dissertation.
During the 2025–2026 academic year, Carlee participated in URLEND, a multidisciplinary year-long training program focused on working with children and families with developmental differences. Prior to joining Alliance, she provided therapy for university students in both individual and group settings and facilitated support groups for parents of autistic adolescent daughters.
Carlee has also worked as a mentor for university students with executive functioning challenges to support their academic success. In addition, she worked on the Behavioral Health Unit at Utah Valley Hospital, supporting individuals experiencing serious mental health concerns. She has worked with a wide range of ages across various clinical settings and looks forward to providing assessments that help clients better understand themselves and connect with appropriate support and resources.
Specialties
Carlee is a feminist therapist who primarily uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients identify their values and build lives that feel more aligned with those values. She integrates techniques from several therapeutic frameworks, including Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
She believes therapy should be individualized and thoughtfully considers each client’s cultural, religious, gender, sexual, age, and educational background throughout the therapeutic process. Carlee values collaboration and works alongside clients as equal partners in setting goals and navigating challenges.
She often works with individuals navigating anxiety, depression, perfectionism, executive functioning difficulties, caregiver stress, and concerns related to autism and neurodiversity. Her approach emphasizes self-compassion, flexibility, and helping clients better understand themselves while building meaningful and sustainable change.
Personal Life
Carlee enjoys a wide range of hobbies and interests and understands the challenge of balancing many responsibilities as a graduate student and parent of school-aged children. She values giving herself grace while navigating the demands of everyday life.
In her free time, she enjoys reading, gardening, thrift shopping, planning trips, baking sourdough bread, and hiking the trails near her home.
