Elise Johnson

Professional Highlights
Elise earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Psychology from BYU. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Clinical Psychology at BYU. As part of her training, she has spent the last three years doing psychotherapy and psychological assessments in community mental health centers.
Elise is working on a dissertation about psychotherapy outcomes for PTSD. Her other research projects have included: Sexual Minority pre- to post-treatment distress levels, how Sexual Minorities develop their own identities and tell others about them, psychometrics (validity/reliability of testing), racial/ethnic parity in psychological interventions, and how trauma behaves interculturally and intergenerationally.
Specialties
The main thing you should know about Elise is that she hates bananas but loves everything about psychology, the brain, and psychotherapy. She has experience with many modalities of therapy. She is especially passionate about treating ADHD, anxiety, and PTSD/trauma.
She believes that meaningful change happens through collaboration, insight, and evidence-based interventions. Elise also believes that therapy should offer both emotional support and practical knowledge.
As clients learn how and why they learn, react, and change over time, they can work with their experiences and values, not against them.
