
Introducing Maddie Garrett

Alliance Psychology is pleased to have Maddie Garrett, a therapist in Orem, counseling adults.
Maddie earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from BYU, and she is currently pursuing a PhD in Counseling Psychology at BYU. Her dissertation is focused on Latter-day Saints’ experience of religious scrupulosity (aka religious OCD). Maddie has taught university courses on counseling and career exploration. She has prior experience as a therapist at BYU’s counseling center.
Maddie’s therapeutic approach is grounded in a holistic, relational view of people, and she thoughtfully integrates principles and strategies from various therapeutic approaches to effectively assist clients. She is committed to building strong relationships with each of her clients and fostering a warm, compassionate, and appropriately challenging space where clients can be agents in their own growth and healing. She emphasizes helping clients make sense of their experiences, examine their patterns of living, and make efforts to change and live in more intentional and fulfilling ways. She also considers relationships essential to well-being and works to help clients to pursue rich and enduring relationships. Maddie has experience working with a diverse range of populations and mental health concerns. She finds particular meaning in assisting individuals facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, relationship/family concerns, religious and spiritual struggles, and the effects of trauma.
Maddie is an outdoor enthusiast, with a fondness for backpacking and skiing. She loves film and philosophy. She is a self-proclaimed foodie, so if you are looking for a good place to eat, she’ll definitely have a recommendation for you!
