Specialties: Dr. Takara has an affirming client-centered approach – respecting and honoring the experiences of those she meets. She incorporates integrated techniques drawn from Emotion Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, and mindfulness to help clients gain needed skills to cope with their challenges. She recognizes clients’ multicultural identities and backgrounds including race, ethnicity, social background, sexual orientation, and religious/spiritual values. She primarily works with adults who are struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia, sexual concerns, trauma, and diversity-related struggles. She also finds special meaning in working with women who are going through life transitions and post-partum depression.
